The Laughing Boy Project

Just wanted to do a little shout out to The Laughing Boy Project that has been a real inspiration for me this week.

The Laughing Boy Project is a project started by an illustrator and photographer in the Philippines. I came across it on Instagram a couple of months ago and completely fell in love with the idea!

It’s actually a really simple concept. Basically you just take the original Sound of Laughter photograph, taken by Hersley Cassero, and recreate it in your own personal style. Drawing, painting, animating, sculpting, cakemaking, whatever you want!

The idea is to encourage the freedom of self-expression through art.

And I just love it. Just look at some of the pieces shared on their instagram account:

Even though everyone has used the same photo as inspiration, every creation is completely different! This just goes to show how much creativity and uniqueness we all have inside of us.

This here is my contribution to the Laughing Boy Project.

It was so fun trying to figure out how to make it my own, and at the same time feeling like I was part of something bigger.

I highly recommend you to check out their Instagram and Facebook page for more inspiration. Maybe even send them a message and make a version of your own?
